Common Questions

Camp is open to students in 4th through 12th grade. The morning session (9AM–12PM) is designed for 4th–6th graders, and the afternoon session (1:30–4:30PM) is tailored for 7th–12th graders. Each session is age-appropriate in its pacing and complexity.
Absolutely not! Camp is designed for all experience levels from complete beginners to students who've done some robotics before. Our mentors meet campers where they are and make sure everyone is challenged and learning throughout the week.
We provide snacks and drinks for all campers, so no need to pack those! Campers should bring a water bottle (staying hydrated is important!), and wear closed-toe shoes — these are required for safety in the build area. Comfortable clothes they don't mind getting a little dirty are also a good idea. We provide all tools, materials, and equipment needed for activities.
You can pay by cash, check (made out to Team 4717), or Venmo. If you choose Venmo, we'll send you payment details via email after registration. If paying by cash or check, bring it on the first day of camp. No payment is collected through the registration form itself.
Yes! You can add multiple campers in a single registration session. After filling out the first child's information and choosing their payment method, you'll be taken to a review screen where you can add another camper. Each camper gets their own entry in our system and their own confirmation email.
If you register a camper for all three weeks, the price drops from $180 ($60 × 3) to $150 — saving you $30. The discount applies per camper, so registering two kids for all three weeks saves $60 total. The discount is applied automatically when you select all three weeks in the form.
If you need to make changes to your registration, reply to your confirmation email and we'll take care of it. We understand things come up — just let us know as early as possible so we can manage our camper numbers for each week.
Yes! Team 4717 is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team based in Lubbock, TX. FRC is an international high school robotics program where teams of students design, build, and compete with robots. Our camp is run by real team members who compete at the regional and sometimes national level each season.
